The 24 LED “dots” in the Ultimate MACH Bar are split so that there are 12 lights on the left side of the bar and 12 lights on the right side. Each group of 12 is in two staggered rows of six. The lights are mounted inside the bar, so there is no visible wiring.
Each RGB dot is individually controlled by an 8-bit driver, giving 24 bit color, or more than 16 million different shades. A microcontroller inside the bar is programmed to automatically cycle through more than ten different patterns of flashing and colors. You can manually advance through the patterns by pressing a button, and you can “lock on” to a particular pattern by doing a press and hold.
The brightness of the lights is preset to a level that is bright indoors, and clearly visible in outdoor sunlight. As an option, you can use the buttons and built in display to set the lights to be brighter or dimmer, however, setting them to full brightness will adversely affect battery life.
